变分法逆问题询问给定的偏微分方程组 (PDEs) 是否具有变分表述。我们表明，变分双复形中预辛形式的存在性（若在解上水平闭）允许我们为给定 PDE 的子系统构造变分表述。不对微分阶数或依赖变量与独立变量的数量施加任何约束。证明遵循 Bridges、Hydon 和 Lawson 最近的观察，并将 Henneaux 关于常微分方程 (ODEs) 的早期结果推广至 PDEs。文中还讨论了变分表述的唯一性。
