Nomadic Decompositions of Bidirected Complete Graphs

组合数学 2011-10-12 v1

摘要

We use KnK^*_n to denote the bidirected complete graph on nn vertices. A nomadic Hamiltonian decomposition of KnK^*_n is a Hamiltonian decomposition, with the additional property that ``nomads'' walk along the Hamiltonian cycles (moving one vertex per time step) without colliding. A nomadic near-Hamiltonian decomposition is defined similarly, except that the cycles in the decomposition have length n1n-1, rather than length nn. J.A. Bondy asked whether these decompositions of KnK^*_n exist for all nn. We show that KnK^*_n admits a nomadic near-Hamiltonian decomposition when n≢2mod4n\not\equiv 2\bmod 4.
