被称为{\it Leavitt 路径代数}的代数结构最初由 Ara、Moreno 和 Pardo 于 2004 年提出，几乎同时（采用不同的方法）也由作者和 Aranda Pino 提出。在过去的十年间，这些代数不仅引起了环论学家的极大兴趣和关注，也吸引了从事 C-代数研究的分析学家、群论学家以及符号动力学家。本文的目标有三：向广大数学界介绍 Leavitt 路径代数的概念；呈现该领域的一些重要结果；并描述该领域目前尚未解决的一些问题。
