大规模开放在线课程 (MOOC) 是教学和科研的一条令人振奋的新途径，但仍充满未知。2013 年春季，MITx 通过 edX 平台发布了其首个入门级物理学 MOOC，全球注册学生总数达 43,000 人。我们描述了参与者群体在年龄、性别、教育水平和原籍国方面的分布，突出了 8.02x 注册学员的多样性以及性别差距和留存率。以三次期中考试和期末考试为节点，我们强调了不同人口统计学子群体的表现及其留存率。我们的工作旨在在可用的 MOOC 数据与物理学教育研究社区相关主题之间搭建桥梁。
