如果基域的特征p等于0或大于3，则具有Cartan矩阵的有限维单模李代数不能被形变。当p=3时，正交李代数o(5)是两个具有形变的具有Cartan矩阵的单模李代数之一（Brown代数br(2; a)属于这些10维形变，因此不单独计数）；29维Brown代数br(3)是另一个具有形变的具有Cartan矩阵的单李代数。Kostrikin和Kuznetsov描述了在o(5)的自同构群O(5)作用下，空间H^2(o(5);o(5))上的轨道（同构类），并给出了同构类的代表元。本文显式描述了o(5)及其在特征2下该正交李代数的单类似物的全局形变。
