Conormal modules via Primitive ideals

摘要

The main object of this note is to study the conormal module MM and the computation of the second symbolic power Iˉ(2)\bar I^{(2)} of an ideal Iˉ\bar I in the residue ring R/HR/H of a polynomial ring RR over a field of characteristic zero. The torsion part T(M)T(M) of MM and the torsion free module M/T(M)M/T(M) are expressed by the primitive ideal of II relative to HH. Two characterizations for M/T(M)M/T(M) to be free are proved. Some immediate applications are worked out.
