摘要
我们探讨了自由群外自同构群Out(F_n)到Out(F_m)的同态存在性。我们证明，若n > 8为偶数且n ≠ m ≤ 2n，或n为奇数且n ≠ m ≤ 2n - 2，则所有此类同态具有有限像；事实上，它们通过行列式映射det: Out(F_n) → Z/2分解。相反，若m = r^n(n - 1) + 1且r与(n - 1)互素，则存在嵌入Out(F_n) → Out(F_m)。为证明最后这一结论，我们确定了Out(F_n)在亏格为n的图上的同伦等价作用何时可以提升到具有阿贝尔Galois群的正规覆盖上的作用。
