色数的多项式界 II. 排除星森林

摘要
Gyarfas-Sumner 猜想指出，对于每一个森林 ，存在一个函数 ，使得若 不含 ，则 （其中 分别为 的色数与团数）。Louis Esperet 猜想，每当这样的陈述成立时， 可以选择为多项式。Gyarfas-Sumner 猜想仅对一小部分森林 已知为真，而 Esperet 猜想对几乎所有的森林都未知是否成立。例如，当 为五顶点路径时，该猜想尚不可知。本文在 的每个分支均为星图的情形下证明了 Esperet 猜想。
