附着于 SL_2(Z) 的非同余子群的 l-进抛物上同调群是 Gal(Qbar/F)（对某些数域 F）的有限维表示。我们给出例子（取 F=Q）产生 Galois 表示，其像是全 symplectic similitudes 群（任意维数）的开子群。Galois 群像的确定依赖于 Katz 关于包含主幂零元的 gl(N) 的约化子代数的分类定理；本文也包含由 I. Gronowski 提出的该定理的一个简短概念性证明。
