经典场论被恰当地表述为纤维丛和分次流形上的拉格朗日理论。然而，人们注意到，对于一般的可约退化拉格朗日场论，其非平凡的高阶Noether恒等式和规范对称性无法被定义。因此，这样的场论无法被量子化。
