设 $G$ 为局部紧群。其约化 C*-代数 $C^*_r(G)$ 并不总是存在迹态。我们给出了与此密切相关的充分必要条件。当 $G$ 为紧生成时，我们得到了完整的解答。特别是，对于 $G$ 几乎连通的情形，或更一般地当 $C^*_r(G)$ 为核 C*-代数时，迹的存在性等价于顺从性。我们给出了两类完全不连通群的例子，其 $C^*_r(G)$ 不存在迹态。
