本文是对文章 P. Broussous “Distinction of the Steinberg representation”（附录作者为 François Courtès，IMRN 2014, no 11, 3140-3157）的导论性与教学性论述。将发表于 Proceedings of Chaire Jean Morlet，Dipendra Prasad、Volker Heiermann 编，2017。包含对 loc. cit. 中证明的修改与简化。本文为纪念于 2016 年 9 月逝世的 François Courtès 而作。
