我们建立了一系列“拼接定理”，粗略地说，这些定理断言：若一个函数在两个不同方向上分别展现出“多项式”（或“Gowers反一致”、“一致几乎周期”或“nilsequence”）行为，则它在两个方向联合时也展现出相同行为（但次数更高）。除此之外，这使得人们能够借助全局Gowers一致范数控制平均局部Gowers一致范数。在本文的续篇中，我们将应用此种控制，来获得各种整数集（如素数）中“多项式进度” 的渐近式。
