我们考虑一类由九条公理定义的 Baer *-环 （亦见于 [S. K. Berberian, Baer *-rings, Die Grundlehren der mathematischen Wissenschaften 195, Springer-Verlag, Berlin-Heidelberg-New York, 1972.] 与 [L. Vaš, Dimension and Torsion Theories for a Class of Baer *-Rings, Journal of Algebra 289 (2005) no. 2, 614--639]），其中最后两条尤为强。我们证明第九条公理可由前七条推出。这肯定了 S. K. Berberian 的问题：若 Baer *-环 满足前七条公理，矩阵环 是否为 Baer *-环。
