本文考察了三个物种在同一栖息地中的相互竞争。其中一种物种生活在整个栖息地中，与另两种物种竞争，而另两种物种则居住在栖息地的两个不相连的区域。这两种种群仅在作为地理屏障的区域/界面上进行相互作用。这种屏障条件导致与经典 Lotka-Volterra 竞争模型相比的物种行为发生根本性变化，具体取决于系统中涉及的多个参数，从而呈现出非常丰富且全新的不同情况。
