摘要
本文以无度量形式考虑 Maxwell 方程组，其具有局域但其他方面任意的本构关系。在将 Maxwell 方程组分解为演化方程和约束之后，我们推导了特征方程并详细讨论了其性质。我们提出了几个与演化方程是双曲、强双曲还是对称双曲问题相关的结果。特别地，我们给出了使演化方程为对称双曲的所有本构关系的便捷表征。后一性质对于初值问题的适定性是充分的，但非必要。作为示例，我们用双各向同性介质和 Born-Infeld 理论的本构关系阐明了我们的结果。
