Catlin 和 D'Angelo 以“可整体化的度量”之名引入了埃尔米特代数函数。Catlin 和 D'Angelo 证明了任何没有非平凡零点的埃尔米特代数函数都是平方范数的商，从而在非退化情形给出了希尔伯特第 17 问题的埃尔米特类比的回答。该结果在稍早由 D. Quillen 在特殊情形中以不同方法独立证明。在本文中，我们刻画了所有作为平方范数之商的埃尔米特代数函数。
