本文讨论了E. Serra和P. Tilli在[Serra&Tilli '12, Serra&Tilli '16]中关于E. De Giorgi（[De Giorgi '96, De Giorgi '06]）针对散焦非线性波动方程Cauchy问题的纯极小化方法这一原创猜想所获得的部分结果的推广。确切地说，我们展示了如何将Serra和Tilli为齐次双曲非线性偏微分方程发展的技术推广到非齐次情形，从而证明De Giorgi的思想实际上为研究一般双曲方程提供了一种有效的方法。
