摘要
我们提出了一种快速方法,用于精确计算多项分布随机变量的最大值之累积分布函数。该方法在 时间内运行,其中 为所要求的最大值, 为变量个数。我们将该方法应用于分析两种情形:某地区疾病病例的明显聚集引发了该病可能具有传染性的猜测,且这一可能性在近期文献中被讨论。我们得出结论,其中一个聚集可纯粹由随机因素解释,而另一个则未必。
