经典舒尔多项式构成对称多项式环的自然基，并具有几何意义，因为它们表示格拉斯曼流形上同调环中的舒伯特类。此外，这些多项式具有丰富的组合性质。在过去十年中，在辛与正交李型中出现了与此图景完全类似的对应，其中舒尔多项式被Buch、Kresch及作者所引入的theta与eta多项式取代。这篇综述性论文概述了迄今已知的关于这一对应关系的成果，并附以实例。
