排序Lasso及其在体育锦标赛中的应用

基于一系列两两比较对备选方案向量进行排序在许多情况下都是一个重要课题。一个常见的例子是对体育锦标赛中的参赛者进行排序。为此，通常使用如Bradley-Terry模型等两两比较模型。本文建议使用Lasso型过程拟合两两比较模型，该过程将能力相似的参赛者归入同一组。所提方法的优势在于更容易解释排序结果，并且相较于标准极大似然拟合，预测质量有显著提升。本文详细讨论了所提方法的数值计算问题。该方法通过2010-2011赛季美国国家橄榄球联盟和2009-2010赛季美国大学男子冰球甲级联赛的球队排序进行了说明。
