Van Raan 等人 (2010; arXiv:1003.2113) 提出了一种用于领域归一化的新指标 (MNCS)。由于领域归一化也用于大学莱顿排名，我们在本篇关于领域归一化的回应中，详细阐述了我们在 Opthof & Leydesdorff (2010; arXiv:1002.2769) 中对期刊归一化的批评。分数式引文计数彻底解决了因领域间引文行为差异而导致的归一化问题。该指标也可用于获得归一化影响因子。
