政府担保与银行盈余平滑

摘要
我们提出政府担保影响银行盈余平滑动机的四种渠道。在实证上，我们利用两个互补的设置来代表政府担保中合理的外生变化：欧元区建立后隐性担保的增加，以及授予 Landesbanken 的显性担保的取消。我们表明，政府担保的增加（减少）与银行盈余平滑的显著减少（增加）相关联。综合来看，我们的结果很大程度上证实了尾部风险渠道的主导性，即政府担保降低了银行的尾部风险，从而减少了管理者进行盈余平滑的动机。
