我们研究非负多项式与平方和之间差异的几何基础。区分三元六次型和四元四次型这两个锥的超曲面被证明是K3曲面的Noether-Lefschetz轨迹。这些超曲面的射影对偶由Hankel矩阵的秩约束定义。我们使用数值代数几何计算它们的次数，从而验证了Maulik和Pandharipande的结果。两个非负形式锥的非SOS极射线分别由平面有理六次型的Severi簇和四次对称曲面簇参数化。
