本文分析了但丁如何在《神曲》Paradiso 第 33 章中描述神圣三位一体的三环（tre giri）。我们指出但丁在旅程的最后一阶段描述其对上帝的 vision 时所设想的无数可能性。Saiber 聚焦于但丁在描述三位一体时所详述的形状、运动、大小、颜色和方向等特征。Mbirika 运用拓扑学（特别是纽结理论）和组合学的数学工具，分析了所有具有特定三环交织布局的可能构型，这一布局与但丁对三位一体的描述尤为契合：呈三角形排列、具有旋转和反射对称的圆环。在众多可能的链环模式中，我们分离出两种特别富于暗示性的三环构型：Brunnian 链环和 (3,3)-环面链环。这两种模式易于自然地对应于三位一体模型。
