在 Cohen-Macaulay (CM) 局部环上，我们刻画了那些可以表示为有限生成极大 CM 模直接极限的模。我们指出了该刻画的两个推论：(1) 在 Hochster 意义下的每个平衡大 CM 模都可以写成小 CM 模的直接极限。类比于 Govorov 和 Lazard 将平坦模刻画为有限生成自由模的直接极限，可将此视为平衡大 CM 模的“结构定理”。(2) 每个有限生成模关于有限生成极大 CM 模类都有一个预包络。从某种意义上说，该结果对偶于 Auslander 和 Buchweitz 证明的极大 CM 逼近的存在性。
