MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR 实验的现状与初步结果

摘要

无中微子双β衰变搜索在确定中微子的性质、轻子数破坏过程的存在以及有效 Majorana 中微子质量方面发挥着重要作用。MAJORANA 合作组组装了一个高纯 Ge 探测器阵列,以搜索 Ge-76 中的无中微子双β衰变。MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR 包含 44.1 kg(其中 29.7 kg 富集 Ge-76)的 Ge 探测器,分布在位于美国南达科他州 Lead 的 Sanford 地下研究设施内的低本底屏蔽装置中的两个模块中。DEMONSTRATOR 的初步目标是确立下一代吨级 Ge 实验所需的低本底水平和可扩展性。自 2015 年开始试运行后,第一个探测器模块于 2016 年初开始低本底数据生产。第二个探测器模块于 2016 年 8 月加入,开始整个阵列的运行。我们讨论了初步物理运行的结果,以及完整的 MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR 实验的现状和物理探索能力。
