本文综述了作者与Markus Banagl、Eric Leichtnam、Rafe Mazzeo以及Paolo Piazza近期关于分层空间霍奇理论的工作。我们讨论了如何将Thom-Mather分层空间解析为具有迭代纤维化结构的带角流形，以及如何将Goresky-MacPherson意义上的perversity推广为mezzoperversity。我们定义了Cheeger空间及其签名，并描述了如何在这些空间上给出Novikov猜想的解析证明。最后，我们回顾了局部对称空间到分层空间的约化Borel-Serre紧化及其到带角流形的解析。
