利用南极 BICEP3 观测低仰角天空与 CMB 冷斑

摘要

BICEP3 是位于南极的 520 mm 孔径同轴折射望远镜,在 95 GHz 观测宇宙微波背景(CMB)的偏振以搜寻来自暴胀引力波的 B 模信号。除这一主要目标外,我们开发了低仰角观测策略以扩展南极天空的覆盖,BICEP3 可借此在大面积区域上快速获得度尺度 E 模测量。一项有趣的 E 模测量是探测 CMB 冷斑周围的潜在偏振异常。在 2018-19 与 2019-20 的 austral 夏季,BICEP3 利用平面镜将波束重定向至不同低仰角范围进行天空观测。初步数据分析显示了以高信噪比测得的度尺度 E 模。
