这是G.N. Chebotarev经典论文《论预解式问题》的英译版，原文为俄文，发表于喀山国立大学（V.I. Ulyanov-Lenin Kazan State University）科学论丛第114卷第2期。本文中，Chebotarev将Wiman《论Tschirnhaus变换在代数方程化简中的应用》中的方法加以推广，论证了21次一般多项式可借助至多15个变量的代数函数求解。然而，他与Wiman的证明均在未加证明的情况下假定了仿射空间中某些交集为一般的。
