我们对不含长度为4的圈的n顶点图中最大边数f(n)得到了一些新的上界。这导致了对广泛整数n范围内f(n)的一个渐近最优界，并否定了Erdős在1970年代提出的一个猜想，该猜想断言f(n)=1/2 n^{3/2}+1/4 n+o(n)。
