动物群体大小的幂律分布与指数分布

摘要

关于动物群体大小存在一些混淆:最大熵法推导出指数分布;对数正态分布被实际使用;以气溶胶凝结的物理类比提出幂律衰减,指数为3/2。本文证明,动物群体大小分布遵循指数为1的幂律衰减,且在截止大小处被截断,该截止大小为任意个体所参与的群体的预期大小。 presented an elementary model of animal aggregation based on binary splitting and coalescing on contingent encounter. The model predicted size distribution holds for various data from pelagic fishes and mammalian herbivores in the wild.
