Gompf猜想断言无论何种定向，没有非平凡Brieskorn同调球面容许在中的伪凸嵌入。相关问题问是否每个紧可缩4-流形都容许Stein域结构。我们验证了Gompf猜想（在一种定向下）对于一族Brieskorn球面，其中一些已知容许在中的光滑嵌入。在另一种定向下我们的方法不能解决问题，但确实给出了一个可缩、边界不可约4-流形的例子，它无论何种定向都不容许Stein结构，尽管其边界在两种定向下都有Stein填充。
