半速度被定义为快度(rapidity)的指数函数。在物理上，半速度被解释为相速度的相对论类比，并在 Beltrami-Klein 与 Poincar\'e 模型框架内给出几何解释。推导了与 Fermat 原理及半速度概念相关的运动学波动方程。
