雷达能否在所有天气建图与定位中取代激光雷达?我们准备好了吗?

我们利用 Boreas 数据集,对三种拓扑度量定位系统——纯雷达、纯激光雷达以及跨模态雷达到激光雷达系统——在不同季节和天气条件下进行了广泛比较。与预期相反,我们的实验表明,即使在暴风雪期间,纯激光雷达流程也取得了最佳的定位精度。我们的结果似乎表明,先前研究夸大了激光雷达定位对中等降水的敏感性。然而,我们的纯雷达流程能够以小得多的地图实现具有竞争力的精度。此外,雷达定位和雷达传感器仍有改进空间,并可能在极端天气下或作为冗余备份系统证明其价值。本项目代码见:https://github.com/utiasASRL/vtr3
