摘要
1911年，Alfred North Whitehead 出版了一本旨在为希望了解数学基本思想的学生撰写的小册子《数学导论》（IM）。Whitehead 的 IM 具有持久的价值，因为该书写于他与 Bertrand Russell 出版其不朽的三卷本著作《数学原理》（PM）之后不久——这部著作对数学具有巨大的历史意义。IM 阐明了 Whitehead 当时的数学观。Whitehead 在书中将谓词逻辑中的证明作为数学的神话起点，尽管 Whitehead 本人在理解符号谓词逻辑的意义方面进展缓慢。
