XENONnT WIMP 搜索:信号与背景建模及统计推断

摘要

XENONnT 实验搜索弱相互作用大质量粒子(WIMP)散射。具体而言,XENONnT 使用含 5.9 吨液态氦的双相时间投影室,检测散射和离子化信号以重构能量、位置及散射类型。该搜索以 1.1 吨年暴露度(4.18 t fiducial 质量)进行盲目核反冲 WIMP 搜索,未发现背景预期之外的信号 excess,从而推导出 WIMP-原子弹性散射的竞争性排除限,WIMP 质量范围从 6 GeV/c2c^2 至 TeV/c2c^2 量级。本工作详细阐述了该搜索所采用的建模与统计方法。通过校准数据,我们对探测器响应进行建模,随后用于推导背景和信号模型。讨论了这些模型的构建与验证,以及其他纯数据驱动的背景。我们还描述了统计推断框架,包括似然函数的定义与置信区间的构建。
