VIMOS-VLT深入调查:第一阶段数据中至z=2星系光度函数的演化

摘要

我们研究了从VIMOS-VLT深入调查(VVDS)所得到的星系光度函数演化,从当前时代演化到z=2,涉及五个(U、B、V、R和I)波段的光度。我们采用11,034个光谱的第一阶段VVDS深入样本进行分析,该样本选取于17.5 <= I_{AB} <= 24.0的范围内,并应用本文所述的光度函数算法(ALF)。我们观察到所有波段中全局光度函数随红移的显著演化。从z=0.05到z=2,我们测得特征 magnitudes M*在U、B、V、R和I波段的光度范围分别为1.8-2.5、1.7-2.4、1.2-1.9、1.1-1.8和1.0-1.6。我们通过测量明亮星系(M < M*(z=0.1))的合围密度,确认了光度函数随波长的差别演化。该密度在U、B、V、R、I波段分别在z=0.05和z=1之间分别增加约2.6倍、2.2倍、1.8倍、1.5倍和1.5倍。我们还测得了光度函数暗端斜率可能的变细化,z=0.05到z=1之间Δα ~ -0.3,所有波段均呈现类似变化。
