VIMOS VLT深入调查——星系聚类演化至z=2的第一阶段观测

本文呈现了从z=2.1到z=0.2范围内星系聚类的演化,这些星系来自第一阶段VIMOS VLT深入调查(VVDS),为光度受限样本(17.5<=I_{AB}<=24)。我们计算了VVDS-02h和VVDS-CDFS场的关联函数ξ(r_p,π)和w_p(r_p),以及关联长度r_0(z),共计7155个星系覆盖0.61deg^2面积。我们发现该样本中关联长度在z=0.5至z=1.1范围内基本保持恒定,r_0(z)=2.5-2.8 h^{-1} Mpc(合围),对于与当地2dFGRS和SDSS样本光度相当的星系,表明关联函数�幅在z~1时约为局部观测值的2.5倍。我们最低红移组z=[0.2,0.5]的关联长度为r_0=2.4 h^{-1} Mpc,低于同一红移范围内其他任何样本,表明非常暗的星系(比2dFGRS或SDSS暗1.5个magnitudes)的低聚类。关联长度在更高红移z=[1.3,2.1]时增加至r_0~3.0 h^{-1} Mpc,因为我们正在观测越来越亮的星系,光度相当于局上的MB_AB=-20.5。我们将我们的测量结果与在相同光度和颜色选取标准下进行选择的DEEP2测量进行比较(z=[0.7,1.35]),结果相当。VVDS星系随红移变化的缓慢聚类与暗物质聚类的预测演化明显不同,表明明亮星系已在9-100亿年前就在从暗物质分布中形成的大尺度结构中起到引导作用,这是星系与暗物质偏差强烈演化的支持性证据。
