在z=1.5的VIMOS-VLT深场测绘中发现环境依赖的星系亮度函数

我们从VIMOS-VLT深场测绘(VVDS)的首次数据中,对6582颗拥有17.5 < I_{AB} < 24且测得光谱红移的星系,构建了三维星系密度场。我们将样本在四个红移区间内划分为稀疏环境和密集环境(依据密度对比度δ=0)。在z=1.2之前,星系亮度函数(LF)与大尺度环境存在强相关性:LF形状在稀疏环境中呈现更陡的斜率。我们发现从z=0.25到z=1.5,稀疏和密集环境中M*均出现持续亮化,ΔM*约为0.6个星 magnitudes。B波段剩余亮度在稀疏环境中从z=0.25到z=1.5持续增长,而在密集环境中呈现z~0.9处的峰值演化。我们通过星系形成率下降与结构层级生长导致的δ>0星系比例增加之间的复杂相互作用来解释该峰值。由于环境依赖的LF形状至少在z=1.2时即已出现,我们因此得出结论:要么LF的形状在宇宙诞生之初即被铭记(`自然'过程),要么`教养'物理过程塑造环境关系的机制在宇宙年龄的30%之外的时间段内已相当高效。
