霍比-埃伯利望远镜确认的首颗开普勒任务行星:富含重元素的热木星Kepler-15b

我们报告了Kepler-15b的发现,这是一颗由NASA开普勒任务探测到的新的凌星系外行星。周期为4.94天的凌星信号在开普勒第一季度(Q1)测光中被探测到。我们首次使用霍比-埃伯利望远镜(HET)的高分辨率摄谱仪(HRS)通过精确视向速度(RV)测量确定了开普勒行星的质量。24个HET/HRS视向速度(RV)测量值和来自北欧光学望远镜(NOT)的FIES摄谱仪的6个额外测量值揭示了一个与凌星历表具有相同周期和相位的多普勒信号。我们使用一张未加碘吸收池的Kepler-15的HET/HRS光谱来确定精确的恒星参数。宿主星是一颗富含金属([Fe/H]=0.36±0.07)的G型主序星,有效温度T_eff=5515±124 K。RV轨道的振幅得出行星质量为0.66±0.1 M_Jup。该行星半径为0.96±0.06 R_Jup,平均体密度为0.9±0.2 g/cm^3。该行星半径位于具有相似质量和辐照水平的凌星行星的下包络线上。这表明该行星显著富集了重元素。我们估计Kepler-15b内部的重元素质量为30-40 M_Earth。
