Keck 望远镜 HISPEC 与 TMT 望远镜 MODHIS 的研发:科学目标与预期灵敏度

摘要

HISPEC 是一台正在为 W.M. Keck II 望远镜设计的新一代高分辨率近红外光谱仪。通过在 0.98–2.5 μm 波段提供单次曝光、R=100,000 的光谱,HISPEC 将能够对密近轨道上的凌星与非凌星系外行星进行光谱观测,对空间分辨的亚恒星伴体进行直接高对比度探测与光谱分析,并利用以一系列最先进的绝对与相对波长参考校准的精密视向速度监测来测量系外行星动力学质量与轨道。MODHIS 是 HISPEC 在三十米望远镜(Thirty Meter Telescope)上的对应仪器,正以相似的科目标并行开发。在本会议报告中,我们简要概述两台仪器的当前设计,以及由各自科学目标所引导的对两台光谱仪的需求。随后我们勾勒 HISPEC 与 MODHIS 当前的科学论证,重点聚焦于系外行星发现与表征所赋能的科学。我们还给出了两台仪器以信噪比和预期视向速度精度表示的更新灵敏度曲线。
