摘要
我们展示了大型地下氙(LUX)实验在美国南达科他州莱德市的桑福德地下研究设施进行的为期三个月的地表调试运行的结果。LUX 是一个 370 千克的液氙探测器,旨在搜寻以弱相互作用大质量粒子(WIMPs)形式存在的冷暗物质。此次调试运行在探测器浸入水箱的情况下进行,验证了各子系统的集成情况,为地下部署做好了准备。利用收集到的数据,我们报告了优异的光收集性能,在 WIMP 靶区中心测得,对于 662 keV 的电子反冲,在无外加电场的情况下实现了每 keV 8.4 个光电子。我们还发现,来自各种内部和外部源的相对高能相互作用具有良好的能量和位置分辨率。最后,我们利用调试数据调整了模拟的光学属性,并报告了更新后的自旋无关 WIMP-核子散射灵敏度预测。
