X-Shooter 之子:面向多波段宇宙的多波段仪器

摘要

X-Shooter 之子(SOXS)将是一台新仪器,设计用于安装在智利拉西拉台址的 ESO 3.5 米新技术望远镜的 Nasmyth-A 焦点上。SOXS 由两台高效率高分辨率光谱仪(分辨率狭缝乘积为 4500,分别工作于可见波段(350–850 nm)和近红外波段(800–2000 nm))以及一台可见光成像仪(可用作科学观测的 Acquisition Camera)组成。其科学目标非常广泛,涵盖太阳系内移动的小天体、爆发中的年轻恒星天体、激变变星和银河系内的 X 射线双星暂现源、本地宇宙中的超新星和潮汐瓦解事件,直至遥远年轻宇宙中的伽马射线暴,基本囊括了所有距离尺度和天文学分支。目前,该仪器已通过 ESO 的初步设计评审(2017 年 7 月)和最终设计评审(FDR,2018 年 7 月)。
