使用从头算量子化学方法研究了氧化态噻吩低聚物的pi堆积。研究发现，单电荷低聚噻吩二聚体在气相中不稳定，但可被乙腈等极化溶剂稳定为单重态的束缚双阳离子。我们的计算详细描述了二聚化现象涉及的机制和能量学，并强调了环境在堆积结构稳定化中的作用和重要性。文中强调了为了真实描述这些材料，需要对电子关联和溶剂化效应进行精确处理。
