NEXT-DEMO 是一个高压氙气时间投影室(TPC),作为 NEXT-100 无中微子双贝塔衰变实验的技术试验台和原理验证装置。在其当前配置中,该装置完全实现了 NEXT-100 的设计理念。这是一种非对称 TPC,其能量平面由光电倍增管组成,追踪平面由涂有 TPB 的硅光电倍增管(SiPM)组成。采用这种新配置的探测器已被用于重建致密气体中电子的特征信号,证明了识别最小电离粒子(MIP)和“团簇”(blob)区域的能力。此外,SiPM 追踪平面允许定义一个大的有效 Fiducial 区域,在该区域内测得 511 keV 处的能量分辨率极佳,为 1.82% FWHM(该值外推至氙的 Qbetabeta 时为 0.83%)。
