摘要
物理学中用于描述交通流不稳定性的概念可被概括性地推广，以理解众所周知的供应链不稳定（即“鹰尾效应”）。即，消费率的微小变化可导致公司生产率的大幅波动。有趣的是，所产生的振荡具有特征频率，明显低于消费率的变化频率。这表明供应链的不稳定可能是商业周期存在的原因。同时，我们在排队论和微观经济学与宏观经济学之间建立了一些联系。
