PICO-2L第二次运行给出的改进暗物质搜寻结果

摘要
报道了2升PICO-2L CF气泡室第二次运行的新数据,总曝光量为129 kg-days,热力学阈值能量为3.3 keV。这些数据表明,为控制过热流体中颗粒污染所采取的措施导致了该气泡室第一次运行中观察到的反常本底事件的消失。在数据中观测到一个单一的核反冲事件,其与来自中子的预测本底率以及观测到的明确多气泡中子散射事件率一致。该室展现出与先前报道相同的优异电子反冲和α衰变抑制能力。这些数据为弱相互作用大质量粒子(WIMP)-质子自旋相关散射提供了迄今为止最严格的直接探测约束,适用于WIMP质量 50 GeV/c。
