来自 PICO-60 CF$_3$I 气泡室的暗物质搜寻结果

摘要

报道了 PICO-60 暗物质探测器的运行新数据,该气泡室位于 SNOLAB 地下实验室,填充了 36.8 kg 的 CF3_3I。PICO-60 是迄今搜寻暗物质的最大气泡室。在分析曝光活时 92.8 livedays 下,PICO-60 展现出与较小气泡室中观测到的同样优异的本底抑制。PICO-60 中的 α 衰变表现出频率依赖的声学量热法,与最近在 C3_3F8_8 气泡室中报道的相似但不完全相同。PICO-60 还观测到大量未知本底事件,其声学、空间和时序行为不同于暗物质信号预期的行为。这些行为允许通过分析截断去除所有本底事件,同时保留 48.2%48.2\% 的曝光活时。设定了关于通过自旋依赖质子和自旋无关过程相互作用的弱相互作用大质量粒子的严格限制,并且将 DAMA/LIBRA 调制信号解释为与碘核相互作用的暗物质的大部分解释被排除。
