摘要
本文综述了 William Feller 在数学生物学领域的重要贡献。开创性论文 [Feller1951] "Diffusion processes in genetics" 对进化生物学界面处随机过程的发展产生了特别重要的影响，而这一方向中有趣的思想（包括对如今所称的"费勒分支扩散"的首次刻画）已在论文 [Feller 1939]（德文撰写）"The foundations of a probabilistic treatment of Volterra's theory of the struggle for life" 中初步形成。Feller 的文章 "On fitness and the cost of natural selection" [Feller 1967] 包含了对"遗传负荷"概念的关键分析。
